History Verizon Communications

The Justice Department of the United States empowered the AT&T Corporation to split the Bell System into seven companies, called "Baby Bells". One of these baby bell companies, Bell Atlantic, in 1984 came into being which was comprised of the seven independent operating companies named New Jersey Bell, Bell of Pennsylvania, Diamond State Telephone, and C&P Telephone. The company later became Verizon.
