Exxon quits Ghana deepwater offshore oil block

  • Exxon Mobil (XOM) confirms it is pulling out of its 80% interest in Ghana's Deepwater Cape Three Points offshore block, without disclosing financial terms.
  • Exxon's move comes just two years after Ghana ratified an exploration and production agreement with the company.
  • Exxon says it is prioritizing assets with the lowest cost of supply, including developments in Guyana, Brazil and the U.S. Permian Basin.
  • The sale appears to be a part of a shift in the company's West Africa strategy, with Savannah Energy saying yesterday that it is in talks with Exxon to acquire its assets in Chad and Cameroon.

    Over the current book year the total revenu from the company based in Irving will be 265.29 billion USD (consensus estimates). This is hugely more than 2020's revenue of 178.57 billion USD.

    The analysts expect for 2021 a net profit of 15.22 billion USD. For this year the majority of the analysts, consulted by press agency Thomson Reuters, expects a profit per share of 3.69 USD. Based on this the price/earnings-ratio is 16.85.

    Per share the analysts expect a dividend of 3.48 USD per share. The dividend yield is then 5.6 percent. The average dividend yield of the oil & gas producers equals a good 3.08 percent.

    Exxon Mobil 's market capitalization is based on the number of outstanding shares around 263.23 billion USD. The Exxon Mobil stock was the past 12 months quite volatile. Since last June the stock is even 42 percent higher. This year the stock price moved between 31 and 64 dollar.
