Lotus Bakeries is a well-known manufacturer and distributor of cakes and biscuits along with the production and marketing of ginger bread, waffles, galettes and other pastry specialties and services. The foundation of the company was laid down in the year of 1932 by Matthieu Boone, when Boone family had started it as a baked caramelized biscuits firm and delivers them on their own. Today, the company is known as a renowned bakery for selling of sweet snack(s) in the retailing industry, cafes, hotels, restaurants and air-lines all over the world. The main head office of the company is present in Belgium but the presence is on an international level with the manufacturing facilities in the regions of the Netherlands, Sweden, and France along with owning or selling of establishments in 9 in US, Canada and other Europe’s regions, having an export facility for other ones. FounJan Boone, grandson of the founder of the company had taken over the business in his hands in May, 2011, who has marked the strategy of extending the overall production of cake and biscuit manufacturing factories instead of maintaining the focus on the possessions hold increase, with the help of working strength of 1200 numbers of employees.


As long as trading and shares of the company is being concerned, the industry in included in the list of the markets of the stock exchange of Euronext Brussels, with the overall revenue generation or turn-over rate of the company founded to be 275 million EUR. The main product range of the company in the field of cake and biscuit made by the company can be mentioned with the listing of caramelized biscuits, pepparkakor biscuits, waffles, frangipane, Madeleine, Breton butter, Enkhuizer cakes, galettes, carre confiture, pastry specialties, gingerbread, and other cake specialties. Along with all these, offering of spreading products for caramelized biscuits and ice creams are also provided by the company. There are a number of brands acquired by the company for the production and marketing of all of its products but the main names are Lotus, Peijnenburg and Annas quality and in the past year of 2012, one more brand name has been added to this long list as Dinosaurus brand.


There are five divisions according to the products produced by the company and the first one is ‘Caramelized Biscuits’ segmentation involved in the selling of caramelized biscuits with the name of ‘Lotus’ brand name. ‘Waffles and Galettes’ division consist of production and marketing of soft and crispy waffles. ‘Cake Specialties’ division includes a variety of diversified and local selling brands. ‘Gingerbread’ division consists of selling of ginger bread items with Peijnenburg brand. ‘Pepparkakor Biscuits’ lineage encompassing spiced biscuits coverage of Annas brand. The main marketing regions for the firm are at the locations of Belgium, France, the Netherlands, UK, N. America, Austria, Czech Republic, Singapore, Switzerland and other Europe’s countries.
