Nvidia to buy autonomous vehicles' mapping startup DeepMap

  • Chipmaker Nvidia (NASDAQ:NVDA) has agreed to acquire DeepMap, a startup committed to building high-definition maps for autonomous vehicles to navigate the world safely.
  • The terms of the deal weren't disclosed.
  • DeepMap was founded five years ago by Wu and Mark Wheeler, veterans of Alphabet , Apple and Baidu .
  • DeepMap is expected to extend Nvidia mapping products, scale worldwide map operations and expand Nvidia 's full-self driving expertise.
  • The acquisition is foreseen to close in Q3'21, subject to regulatory consent and customary closing conditions.

    Over the current book year the total revenu from the company based in Santa Clara will be 24.76 billion USD (consensus estimates). This is quite more than 2020's revenue of 16.68 billion USD.

    The analysts expect for 2021 a net profit of 9.96 billion USD. For this year the majority of the analysts, consulted by press agency Thomson Reuters, expects a profit per share of 15.73 USD. Based on this the price/earnings-ratio is 45.23.
