Uber cuts 15% of Postmates workforce

  • Last summer, Uber (NYSE:UBER) acquired delivery service Postmates for $2.65B after acquisition talks with Grubhub fell through.
  • Uber has cut more than 185 Postmates workers as the ride-hail giant works to integrate its purchase into the Uber Eats business.
  • The departures include Postmates founder/CEO Bastian Lehmann and most of the executive team.
  • The cuts represent about 15% of the total Postmates workforce.
  • Pandemic-driven strength in the Eats business helped offset the gutted ride-hail demand.
  • When Uber reported Q3 results in November, Mobility revenue fell 53% on the year and Delivery sales soared 125%.

    Based on the current number of shares Uber 's market capitalization equals 86.78 billion USD. The Uber stock was the past 12 months quite volatile. Since last January the stock is even 41 percent higher. This year the stock price moved between 14 and 60 dollar.
