According to several reports, Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) will launch its exclusive TV shows in June. These shows are a part of the company’s bigger plans of entering the exclusive content industry to compete with Netflix, YouTube and Amazon.com . Facebook is already paying companies like Vox and Buzzfeed to use Facebook Live and 360 degree videos as a trial.
Facebook ’s plan is to monetize TV shows and short videos based on advertising revenue. The company recently launched “Video” tab for its mobile apps, using which people could search and explore video content. This poses a direct challenge to YouTube and Netflix.
