Elon Musk says Tesla will accept bitcoin payment once clean energy usage confirmed

  • Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA) will once again allow customers to pay in bitcoin (BTC-USD) once there's confirmation of "reasonable (~50%) clean energy usage by miners with positive future trend," CEO Elon Musk said via Twitter.
  • In May, the electric-vehicle maker suspended vehicle purchases using bitcoin due to concern over bitcoin miners' use of fossil fuels, especially coal.
  • Musk was responding to a report in which Sygnia CEO Magda Wierzycka alleged the Tesla founder with manipulating the bitcoin market then selling a "big part of his exposure at the peak."
  • In response, Musk said Tesla only sold ~10% of its holdings "to confirm BTC could be liquidated easily without moving market."

    For this year the company, located in Palo Alto revenue will be around 49.07 billion USD. This is according to the average of the analysts' estimates. This is rather significant more than 2020's revenue of 31.54 billion USD.

    The analysts expect for 2021 a net profit of 4.91 billion USD. For this year the consensus of Tesla 's result per share is a profit of 4.53 USD. The price/earnings-ratio therefore equals a very high 148.32.

    For this year analysts don't expect the company to pay a dividend. The average dividend yield of the automobile producers is an attractive 2.75 percent.

    Tesla 's market capitalization is around 608.04 billion USD. The Tesla stock was the past 12 months quite unstable. Since last June the stock is even 250 percent higher. This year the stock price moved between 190 and 900 dollar.
