HP acquires gaming peripherals from HyperX for $425 million

  • Hewlett Packard (NYSE:HPQ) acquires the gaming peripheral assets of HyperX from Kingston Technology Company for $425M. Kngston will retail the DRAM, flash, and SSD products.
  • The gaming peripheral assets include headsets, keyboards, mice, mouse pads, USB microphones, and console accessories.
  • “HyperX is a leader in peripherals whose technology is trusted by gamers around the world and we’re thrilled to welcome their outstanding team to the Hewlett Packard family,” says Hewlett Packard CEO Enrique Lores, President. “We continue to advance our leadership in Personal Systems by modernizing compute experiences and expanding into valuable adjacencies. We see significant opportunities in the large and growing peripherals market, and the addition of HyperX to our portfolio will drive new sources of innovation and growth for our business.”
  • Hewlett Packard expects the acquisition to be accretive on a non-GAAP basis in the first full year following the closing, which should happen in calendar Q2.

    Based on the current number of outstanding shares Hewlett Packard 's market capitalization is 42.24 billion USD. The Hewlett Packard stock was the past 12 months quite volatile. Since last March the stock is even 44 percent higher. This year the stock price moved between 13 and 30 dollar.
