Ford exits position in lidar specialist Velodyne

  • Ford (NYSE:F) exited its stake in Velodyne Lidar (NASDAQ:VLDR), according to a regulatory filing.
  • The automaker has held a passive stake of 7.6% of 13.07M shares at the end of Q3. Ford originally invested $75M in Velodyne in 2016.
  • Velodyne is one of several companies developing lidar technology for the automobile sector.
  • "This is consistent with our efforts to make the best, highest use of capital," states Ford spokesman T.R. Reid.
  • Ford still holds a large stake in autonomous tech player Argo AI.

    Over the current book year the total revenue will be 144.04 billion USD (consensus estimates). This is hugely more than 2019's revenue of 127.14 billion USD.

    The analysts expect for 2020 a net profit of 4.54 billion USD. For this year the majority of the analysts, consulted by press agency Thomson Reuters, expects a profit per share of 1.18 USD. The price-earnings-ratio equals 9.73.

    Per share the analysts expect a dividend of 9 cents per share. Thus the dividend yield equals 0.78 percent. The average dividend yield of the automobile producers equals a moderate 0.82 percent.

    Ford Motor's market capitalization is based on the number of outstanding shares around 46.05 billion USD. The Ford Motor stock was the past 12 months quite volatile. Since last February the stock is even 44 percent higher. This year the stock price moved between 4 and 12 dollar.
