This is a large real estate company in Europe that is mostly focused on commercial property investments. It was first established under the name UNIBAIL as finance leasing entity in 1968, by a company which was then called Worms & Cie. Worm & Cie decided to concentrate on property investment after doing away with its earlier leasing financing operation. It was able to create about 50 shopping centers in the most part of France.
Before Merging with UNIBAL, to form the biggest property trading company in Europe, Rodamco was itself a property investment fund organization, that was set up in 1999 immediately after the Dutch asset management group known as Robeco got split into various independent companies, that were listed all over the world. Rodamco had retail stores and shopping centers that were spread across 14 countries in Europe, including office properties located in Netherlands and France.
The merging agreement between UNIBAIL and Rodamco was made and confirmed in 2007, this happened after UNIBAIL’s acquisition of 80 percent of Rodamco's shares. To facilities it’s growth, Unibail-Rodamco hired Christophe Cuvillier who previously served as FNAC CEO. He was able to champion the company’s development on a growth period of 5 years.
The company finally became Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield after the acquisition of Westfield Corporation by UNIBAIL which owns about 35 shopping centers in United Kingdom and the United States.
