Hyundai Motor Group completes Boston Dynamics acquisition

  • Hyundai Motor Group, the parent company of South Korean automaker Hyundai Motor Company (OTCPK:HYMTF), has completed its acquisition of a controlling stake in Boston Dynamics, a US engineering and robotics design company.
  • The group purchased the stake from SoftBank in a deal that valued Boston Dynamics at $1.1B.
  • Additional financial details regarding the deal remain undisclosed. Hyundai Motor Group now holds an 80% stake in Boston Dynamics, while SoftBank retains a 20% stake through an affiliate.
  • Hyundai Motor Group will use the acquisition to develop a robotics value chain encompassing robot component manufacturing to smart logistics solutions.
  • It will also help expand Boston Dynamics' product line and sales and services footprint. Boston Dynamics offers robots spanning multiple industries, including oil and gas, mining and power utilities.

    For this year Hyundai Corp's revenue will be around 3.41 billion SEK. This is according to the average of the analysts' estimates. This is quite more than 2020's revenue of 2880.89 billion SEK.

    The analysts expect for 2021 a net profit of 35.33 billion SEK. According to most of the analysts the company will have a profit per share for this book year of 2661.67 SEK. Based on this the price/earnings-ratio is 7.65.

    Per share the analysts are expecting a dividend of 600 SEK per share. Thus the dividend yield equals 2.95 percent. The average dividend yield of the trade companies is an attractive 3.14 percent.

    Based on the current number of outstanding shares Hyundai Corp's market capitalization 257.61 billion SEK. The Hyundai Corp stock was the past 12 months quite volatile. Since last June the stock is even 59 percent higher. This year the stock price moved between 12950 and 22700 won.
