BP joins group seeking to develop offshore wind in Norway

  • BP says it is teaming up with Statkraft, Europe's largest producer of renewable energy, and longtime North Sea operator Aker Offshore Wind to develop offshore wind power projects in Norway.
  • The consortium says it will bid for permits to build offshore wind power projects in the Soerlige Nordsjoe II licensing area in the southern part of the North Sea, one of the two areas opened in Norway, with each partner holding a one-third share.
  • Soerlige Nordsjoe's favorable location 140 km off the Norwegian coast provides power export access to local and adjacent markets, BP says.
