Longtime Head of Content and Editor-in-Chief of Vogue Mexico and Latin America to lead AVANCE Global's expansion into lifestyle, culture, and consumer media
San Diego, CA , Sept. 15, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- AVANCE Global today announced that Karla Martínez de Salas, one of the most influential editorial leaders in fashion and culture, will join the company as Chief Content Officer of AVANCE Global and Editor-in-Chief of its forthcoming lifestyle media brand, marking a major expansion of AVANCE Global's media platform.
Martínez de Salas joins AVANCE Global after a decade leading Vogue Mexico and Latin America, where she helped reshape one of the world's most recognizable media brands for a new generation of readers across the region. She will be part of the executive committee with CEO Gary Acosta and Pedro A. Guerrero, President and Chief Media Officer, and will oversee the editorial vision and content strategy for AVANCE Global's new lifestyle brand, which will span fashion, design, travel, food, culture, entertainment and the voices and ideas moving culture forward.
"Karla joining AVANCE sends a clear signal about what we are building, especially now," said Guerrero. "We believe the American media market is starved for brands that reflect the vanguard of its culture. Karla has spent her career shaping culture at the highest levels, and now she is helping us build the institution that brings global perspective into focus and is unbound by the conventions of traditional media.”
Martínez de Salas brings more than two decades of experience among the top ranks of global fashion and media. She began her career at American Vogue before going on to hold Senior editorial positions at T: The New York Times Style Magazine, Interview and W. In 2016, she was named Editor-in-Chief of Vogue Mexico and Latin America.
During her tenure, Martínez de Salas pushed the publication toward a more rooted vision of fashion and culture, demonstrating that deeply local storytelling could have global resonance. She championed Latin American designers, photographers, artists and talent while expanding ideas of beauty and representation across the region. Her celebrated covers and editorial work have featured figures including Bad Bunny, Karol G, Yalitza Aparicio, and leading Indigenous and Afro-Latino voices, helping introduce talent and stories from across Latin America to global audiences. Much of her editorial career has been defined by recognizing cultural movements before the broader marketplace catches up.
"The most meaningful storytelling starts at the level of individuals and communities, because that’s where culture and creativity are expressed. Throughout my career, I’ve seen the power of elevating local voices, perspectives, and talent to the global stages they deserve,” said Martínez de Salas. “I'm incredibly excited to build a platform from the ground up, one that is distinctly rooted and reflects the richness, creativity and influence that we all collectively hold."
The forthcoming lifestyle brand will mark a significant expansion of AVANCE Global’s media ecosystem into culture and lifestyle, following its recent acquisition of Hispanic Executive. It will tell the stories of the people, ideas, tastes and cultural forces shaping American culture writ large.
For Founder and CEO Gary Acosta, the addition of Martínez de Salas represents the start of an ambitious journey: “Karla has spent her career at the highest levels of global media, shaping how culture, creativity and talent are presented to the world. Her decision to join AVANCE speaks to the magnitude of what we are building. Karla’s expert editorial leadership and creative storytelling will help us build AVANCE into a global platform that connects people across industries, borders and generations.”
The new lifestyle brand will join AVANCE Global's expanding media ecosystem and is expected to launch later in the year. Its Name , editorial leadership Team , contributors and additional details will be announced in the coming months. Karla will continue as the Vogue Mexico and Latin America Head of Editorial Content until her official departure in October to ensure a smooth transition. November will be her last issue with Vogue Mexico and Latin America.
