/ Key word(s): Miscellaneous
hep global successfully develops two solar projects with battery storage systems west of Munich The two solar parks are located only about 1.5 kilometers apart. Due to their location between the A96 highway and a railroad line, they are considered privileged locations for ground-mounted photovoltaic systems. The intermunicipal location of the Buchloe solar park presented special requirements. “The project area spans two districts in the Allgäu region,” explains Johannes Liepert, Senior Associate for Project Development at hep global. “As such, the project has demonstrated how important early and structured coordination with the authorities and specialized agencies in both jurisdictions is for the success of a complex project.” The 8.4 MWp Buchloe solar park is being built on an 8.7-hectare site near a gravel pit. The integrated green energy storage system, with a capacity of 6.1 MWh and an output of 3 MW, expands the technical applications and economic benefits of the electricity generated. Thanks to the storage system, solar power can be fed into the grid specifically during periods of higher electricity prices. The expected annual electricity production is approximately 9.4 million kilowatt-hours, which, according to the Federal Statistical Office, corresponds to the needs of just under 2,780 households. The Wiedergeltingen solar park will have a capacity of 3.7 MWp. The plant will be supplemented by a green energy storage system with a capacity of 2.5 MWh and an output of 1.3 MW. Covering an area of 4.5 hectares, the facility will generate approximately 4.3 million kilowatt-hours of renewable electricity per year. This is enough to supply approximately 1,270 households with electricity. Focus on regional electricity marketing hep global places great importance on integrating the generated electricity into the regional power grid wherever possible. “Our goal is to make the electricity generated by our solar parks available right where it is produced. Therefore, we reach out to potential local electricity buyers as early as the development phase,” explains Gábor Csanak, Director of PPA Origination EMEA, who is responsible for electricity marketing at hep global.
