q.beyond wins German Sustainability Award

  • Winner in “IT services” sector
  • Award acknowledges contribution to sustainably transforming economy
  • Award ceremony on 5 December 2025

Cologne, 2 October 2025 – q.beyond AG has been singled out for Germany’s highest accolade for sustainable business activity – the 2026 German Sustainability Award for companies. This places the IT service provider among 100 pioneers of the sustainable transformation towards an economy fit for the future.

“q.beyond offers a shining example as to how digitalisation and sustainability can be conceptually harmonised and practically implemented”, comments the jury in its reasoning. The jury was particularly convinced by “the systematic and long-term way the company has integrated sustainability into its corporate strategy, operating processes, and corporate culture.”

Comments Nora Wolters, CFO of q.beyond AG: “We provide our customers with sovereign IT services that are stable, secure, and compliant with data protection requirements. And we have successfully been doing this under the premise of sustainability for many years. We are therefore delighted that our commitment has now been recognised with the German Sustainability Award.”

From energy-efficient data centres to upskilling

The award acknowledges the efforts made by a company to promote sustainability by reference to ecological, economic, and social perspectives. In operating its certified high-security data centres, for example, q.beyond has helped protect the climate for several years already by working with green electricity and offsetting unavoidable residual emissions. Further measures include expanding the use of photovoltaics and deploying state-of-the-art air conditioning and coolants at the data centres.

From these data centres, the IT service provider makes cloud, colocation, and managed services available to its customers. These services have recently been supplemented by a fully sovereign AI platform, “Private Enterprise AI”, which enables medium-sized companies to process critical company information on a compliance-conformant basis and thus optimise their own value creation and sustainably raise their profitability.

By the end of 2026, the company aims to cut its emissions from electricity, fuels, and business travel by 60 % compared with the 2019 base year. This target is also anchored in the management remuneration system. In addition, the IT service provider has signed up to the EU Code of Conduct for Data Centre Energy Efficiency. Based on ISO 50001, the international standard for energy management systems, q.beyond is ensuring that its energy efficiency is systematically improved.

Among others, the economic aspects also include the security services with which q.beyond supports its customers in boosting the resilience of their business models. The IT service provider has substantially extended its security portfolio in recent years, with one example involving the opening just this year of its second Cyber Defence Center at its nearshoring location in Riga (Latvia).

The social measures q.beyond is pursuing include actively working to achieve a higher share of women in management positions. And the upskilling of employees has been deeply embedded in the corporate strategy for several years already. Here, the company has established the q.beyond Academy to enable its experts to continually extend and intensify their existing skills.

Confirmation of long-term sustainability strategy

For Martina Altheim, Head of Corporate Social Responsibility at q.beyond, the award confirms the company’s long-term sustainability strategy: “This accolade offers proof that digitalisation and sustainability can go hand in hand, and that IT service providers have a key role to play in transforming the economy along sustainable lines.”

The award ceremony for the German Sustainability Award will take place in Düsseldorf on 5 December. Guests from the worlds of business, society, and politics will include the President of Germany’s Federal Parliament Julia Kloeckner and EU Environment Commissioner Jessika Roswall.
