SBF AG ramps up production in Budweis, Czech Republic – significant reduction in cost base

Leipzig, 21 May 2025 – SBF AG (ISIN: DE000A2AAE22; WKN A2AAE2, “SBF”), a listed specialist for innovative solutions in the fields of rolling stock, lighting, electromechanics, and sensor technology, has fully commissioned the production facilities at its Czech plant in Budweis. By the end of 2024, all machinery had been relocated from the now abandoned Springe site to Budweis. In the following months, the complex and automated production facilities were rebuilt at the new location and gradually brought into operation. This laid the foundation for sustainable profitable business development in the “Public and Industrial Lighting” segment.

The aim of relocating the site was to significantly reduce the cost base. From 2025, rental, personnel and ancillary costs will now be reduced by around €1.7 million per year. One-off costs of €1.1 million were incurred for the integration and relocation. In the SBF Group, extraordinary costs totaled €2.6 million in 2024. This also includes costs for the integration of AMS Software AG & Elektronik GmbH into the Group.

“We are very proud that the relocation went so smoothly. Dismantling an automated production facility for technological products and putting it back into operation at a new location is a major undertaking – both logistically and organizationally. This placed a considerable strain on our team, which they mastered with great dedication and commitment. However, this step was necessary to further strengthen SBF AG's competitiveness. The investment in this transformation process will pay off in the medium and long term through significant efficiency gains and cost savings,” says Robert Stöcklinger, member of the Management Board of SBF AG.

The Budweis plant produces customized and mass-produced LED solutions for a wide range of industries, including industry, municipalities, railways, gas stations, and public spaces. The portfolio ranges from individually designed solutions and series production to decorative luminaires for demanding applications. A particular focus is placed on energy efficiency, environmental compatibility, design, and quality.
