This is a famous brewing company in Netherlands that was established In Amsterdam by Gerard Adriaan Heineken in early 1860s. Gerard Adriaan Heineken was just 22 years old when he founded the company. He first acquired a brewery in Amsterdam which was known as De Hooiberg and later switched the name to Heineken's Bierbrouwerij Maatschappij, this change of name was inspired by the usage of bottom fermenting yeast. In 1874, Gerard started another brewery in Rotterdam, a city in Netherlands.
Nowadays, Heineken has over 166 breweries currently situated in over 71 countries and, is involved in the production almost 250 special Ciders and Beers for local, regional and international markets. As a result of its well build popular brand Heinken has been able to employ over 72000 people in its establishments.
The huge annual beer production by Heineken which is about 188.4 million hectoliters saw the company registering a large global revenue of over EUR 20,500 million in 2015.
Heineken still remains a leading brewery in the whole of Europe and among the biggest breweries in the world. It has actually been ranked second largest after merging with SABMiller and Anheuser-Busch InBev which the largest brewery companies in the world.
