European oil & gas sector pay more dividends

The European oil & gas producers now deliver more dividends then the US ones. These in Europe now yield 2,3 percent and these in US 0,5 percent. BP , Royal Dutch Royal Dutch Shell and Bashneft have now the highest dividend returns (in case the dividends per share are unchanged).

Lately most stocks of the oil & gas sector are in high demand. Over the past 3 months the sector is around 15 percent higher. Investors who bought the average share of the sector in 2007 now have gain of around 24 percent. Since 2012 the sector trades 1 percent lower.

In terms of their price/earnings ratios the American oil & gas producers are cheaper than the European ones. Per US share investors pay now less the for the expected earnings per share. So it seems the markets expect less growth of them. The European oil & gas sector has a CAPE of 8 and the US's sector of -5. Shares with the more extreme CAPE-ratios are Maurel et Prom, Cairn Energy Energy and Cnooc. DNO, CGG Veritas and BW LPG have the lowest CAPE-ratios.
